Whakamārama Like the growth of a tree, we aim to nurture the growth of our tamariki from the time they start to the time they finish. Like a seed, our whanau have chosen our school soils to plant and foster the growth of their child. Given the right tools and the aroha required, the seed starts to sprout, and spring out from the soil. As time passes, the buds of the plant start to appear, and then it starts its journey to its adult form. The growth of a seed to a tree can also represent the different stages that our students go through as they develop on their journey here at Naenae. Our syndicate is an Inclusive environment, where we cater for all children’s holistic development. Their learning, social and emotional needs are paramount. We pride ourselves in adapting our programmes, to ensure all children have the best learning experiences.

Pōhutukawa, Rimu and Kowhai are the names of some of Aotearoa’s beautiful and strong trees. As they grow they support others growing around them. They provide shelter from harsh weather, when their leaves and flowers fall and return to Papatuanuku they put nutrients back into the soil and as their roots grow down they support the earth and create a stable environment. These are also the names of our senior classes. In our senior classes much like their powerful names we encourage our students to become ‘The Best We Can Be’. As trees provide shelter from the harsh weather, our students partake in leadership skills to support their teina both at playtime and around the school. As trees drop their leaves and flowers and provide nutrients to the soil, we offer opportunities for students to work collaboratively and support each other in their learning journeys. As trees grow roots further into the soil and help the land remain stable, we support our students to learn about their roots. Through Mana of Belonging we develop an understanding of where we are from, where we are now and what it means to belong here. |
