Learning through Play

 

In the Junior Syndicate, we have a Learning through Play programme that runs several times a week. During this time, students have the opportunity to explore self directed learning through a variety of experiences. Play is a natural, enjoyable way for children to build a positive attitude towards learning, be creative & curious, and investigate and explore the world around them. This fosters children’s cognitive and social development. They will also practise such skills as problem solving, persistence, self regulation and collaboration. Play also encourages and supports a tuakana teina relationship to form between the children and teachers.

Snapshots of your children’s learning will be gathered through teacher observation. Learning stories will include children’s passions, interests, friendships and skills being learnt. These notes will be documented for future planning, parent information and for curriculum assessment.
